Leo, now MacDuff, Adopted December 2011
I went home for Christmas with previous adopters, Veronica and Dave. I am joining the lovely Daisy, beautiful Holly, and fun-loving Buster. This is the best Christmas EVER! Mom Veronica says that I am the best Christmas present she ever received. Thank you WROC for my wonderful new life. XOXO MacDuff
LEO'S ORIGINAL STORY: Hi - I am Leonardo but my friends call me Leo. My parents had to make the most difficult of decisions, relinquishing me to WROC. It's not something they wanted to do but circumstances forced them to do the right thing, put me in the loving hands of WROC vs. a shelter. I am a beaufiful 6 year old, neutered male. I am current on all my shots and microchipped. I love my toys, walking in the park, and chasing my ball. Sure would love to land a forever home so that I can welcome in the New Year with you. I am ready & willing to go! Westie Wishes & Kisses, Leo
Kelly, now Lucy, Adopted December 2011
Santa granted my wish and I got my very own family for Christmas, Mom Kelly, Barrett & Chloe came to visit me, took one look, and that was that. I even have a new doggie sister Gidget. I am the happiest little girl and my new family is thrilled with me. Thank you WROC for another perfect match! Warm Westie Kisses, Lucy
KELLY'S ORIGINAL STORY: Hi my name is Kelly and I just arrived at WROC. I am a 1-2 year old small female, spayed, microchipped and current on all my shots. I do not know what happened or how I was abandoned and ended up in a shelter. It was a terrible way to spend the holidays. But I am one of the lucky ones...WROC came for me and took me home. I got a great meal of Highlander Hash and a warm bath and I slept soundly for the first time in a long time. I am a happy girl, who loves to hang out and cuddle with my people. I am playful and very sweet. The best present I could hope for is my own family for Christmas. If you are looking, I am waiting....XOXO Kelly
Millie, Adopted December 2011
This is the greatest Christmas present that I could hope for - my very own home with Susan, Maurie & Samantha. Thank you WROC for making my dreams come true! XOXO Millie
MILLIE'S ORIGINAL STORY: I was blind sided when my owners left me with total strangers. Being the secure and confidant dog I am, I held out for hope. As time went by I felt hurt, betrayed and even guilty, should I have done things differently, did I disappoint them? Then WROC came into my life and all of a sudden I shifted my focus from the past to a hopeful future. I am a sweet girl that is approximately 3-4 years of age, looking for my forever home, a family that has plenty of time to dote on me and that can provide me plenty of exercise. I am spayed, microchipped and current on my shots and ready to go. My dream is to have a family who appreciates me and will give me all the love and kisses I can handle. I would love to hear from you - I am ready to go! Warm Westie Wishes & Kisses, Millie
Taz, now Ava, Adopted December 2011
Do I have a story for you...I went to the beauty salon for a makeover and I never came home! My new Mom, Michelle, took one look at me, picked up the phone and called WROC. She said it was love at first sight for BOTH of us and I had my new home. I have a new sister, Lola, and I also got a job. I am the official greeter for Happy Dog Salon. Come by & see me sometime, I am the cute girl on the front desk. XOXO Ava
TAZ'S ORIGINAL STORY: My name is Taz and I am 1-2 years old, spayed, microchipped and current on all my shots.I was brought to the shelter by my Mom because she did not have the time nor the desire that it takes to bring up a young "pup". I was put in a cage, a cage... can you imagine that? I'm not a wild animal, I am a fun loving and loyal pet that did no harm. Then at my lowest point, the cage door opened and I took full advantage of it by leaping into the open arms of my WROC rescue angel. She held me close and her gentle soft voice gave me comfort.
I love everyone, everything, toys, people & dogs alike. I am playful, fun and adorable. I am waiting for my new family...is it you? I promise you will not be disappointed! Love and kisses, Taz
Chad, Adopted November 2011
I was adopted by the best Westie family, Jurga & Tim. They loved their Westie Dewey for many years and his loss was hard on the entire family. But they opened their hearts and homes to a special boy like me. I am really happy here with my Westie sister Lucy and very grateful for this lovely family. XOXO Chad
CHAD'S ORIGINAL STORY: My name is Chad and I just arrived in rescue. I wandered the streets without a destination or purpose feeling alone and isolated. I was picked up by animal control and taken to the shelter. I waited patiently in that scary place, but my owners never came for me. I was SO happy and relieved when that cage door finally opened, I bounded out and jumped into my rescuer's arms with jubilation. I am a very sweet Westie, neutered, current on all my shots and micro chipped. If I sound like your guy, send in that application. XOXO Chad
Scotty, Adopted November 2011
Hi WROC, I would like to let you know that I'm very thankful and grateful for all your help with finding a special place for my Scotty. Annemarie told me that you called and let her know that Nancee is a very nice person and that he found a very good place. Nancee is calling Annemarie and giving her updates on how Scotty is doing. He was a lucky boy to find a special home and a new friend like that. I'm very thankful for all your help. Thanks again and I wish you and your family Happy Holidays. Manuela
NOTE FROM WROC: Scotty is a senior Westie whose owner moved to Germany. She left him with her friend Annemarie until a home was found for him. Scotty's vet found Scotty's new home with their client Nancee. Our Westie community is amazing in its ability to come together for our Westies
Tucker, Adopted November 2011
This greatest thing happened for me. Previous adopters of Casey (now Bob), Lynn and Dan called WROC the minute they saw me. Somehow, they knew I was the perfect dog for their family and WOW were they right!! My new life with my new family is just the best. I am so happy and content. Thank you WROC from the sweetest Westie ever, Tucker
TUCKER'S ORIGINAL STORY: Hey there, my name is Tucker and I am a 2-3 year old neutered male. I was found wandering the streets and was picked up by animal control. I have to tell you the shelter is a lonely and scary place. I got sick and had just about given up hope when suddenly the cage door opened and there was my rescue angel. She scooped me up and promised that everything was going to be fine.I went straight to the vet, got the meds I needed, and am feeling really good. I love my new Westie diet, especially Highlander Hash, and I love my new friends and that toy box is something else!! I am playful, fun and happy and ready for new home. I am waiting patiently for my new life!! XO Tucker
Olivia, Adopted November 2011
It has been a journey for me, but when previous WROC adopters Scarlette, Bruce, Ellie, & Claire called WROC, we were all so excited! What a wonderful family with a great Westie buddy, Ozzie. We are all living the good life and I have WROC to thank for everything. Eternally grateful and happy, Livvie
OLIVIA'S ORIGINAL STORY: Hi there, my name is Olivia, but my friends call me Livvie. My life couldn't be any more different...first I am at home with my own family then all of a sudden I found myself out in the streets trying to survive without any streets smarts. I got lost and couldn't find my way home. I waited and waited for my family to come and I almost lost all hope. But then WROC showed up at my cage offering me comfort and a new life.I am a 2-3 year old spayed female, current on all my shots So could you find a place in your heart for me? I am seeking a loving and caring home that will make me part of your family. XO Livvie
Dino, Adopted November 2011 **WROC's 200th Adoption**
Time heals all wounds. Ive overcome the neglect and cruelty of my past and found my way home to Jean-Louis, Grace and the beautiful Wesley who is also a WROC adoptee. I have the greatest parents that love me for all that I am, a new brother that shares his toys and best of all an Oak tree in the back yard that is squirrel heaven. My life is beautiful, I am happy, and I am home! XOXO Dino
DINO'S ORIGINAL STORY: Animal cruelty can be either abandonment, deliberate abuse or simply the failure to take care of an animal by not providing even the basic care. Dino was a victim of such cruelty, as when he arrived at WROC he was emaciated, teeth worn to the gums and broken, skin and ear infection and very little energy to spare. He was given a bath immediately, resting his head on the tub spout and fell asleep as he was bathed. Within the first two weeks with us, Dino went into Addisonian crisis which is an adrenal gland dysfunction. He is now being treated properly and with a monthly shot and daily prednisone, Dino can live a normal, active and healthy long life.
Dino has reclaimed his life and is enjoying being the awesome dog that he is without a worry in the world! It is amazing how wonderfully sweetand gentle Dino is after all he has been through. He is trusting of all people and other dogs alike. He thoroughly enjoys his toys and generously shares them with others. He can often be found lying on his back tossing them in the air. He loves to stroll around the dog park and makes an extra effort to visit any person sitting on a park bench for an ear rub. As exciting as he finds the great outdoors, he is equally happy to curl up in a lap for a nap.It is a great source of joy to rescue dogs like Dino. He is very grateful and his beautiful eyes show it. The feeling we have for him runs just as deep andhis new family will feel as though theyve won the lottery. His beautiful spirit shines bright. In the meantime, watch for Dinos updates as this little one will no doubt be the keeper of your heart.
Max, Adopted November 2011
When WROC got the call from my new Mom, Patti, I really hit the jackpot. This is a wonderful home and I have a new sister, Kadie, who is also a WROC adoptee. I am so very happy and I just love it here. Our family has a WROC Westie angel, Lacey, and I am sure that she watches over us. Big kisses, Max
MAX'S ORIGINAL STORY: Max was picked up as a stray by animal control and when his owners were contacted, they said they didn't have time for him. Max was a matted mess and he was so grateful for a bath and a grooming while we worked on his coat. He is a beautiful boy, estimated to be 4-5 years old, fully vetted, neutered and ready for a home where he will never be abandoned again. Max is very trusting, gentle and loves to sleep with his person. He gets along with all dogs and has recently discoverd the joy of toys! If you think Max is for you, send in your application!

ANNALIESE'S ORIGINAL STORY: My name is Annaliese and I am one adorable little girl. I am 2-3 years old, spayed and current on all my shots. I am a very playful fun Westie. I love my toys and will race through the house playing keep away. I will cuddle right up with you if you have a lap to spare and I give the greatest kisses. I was adopted by Michael and Mark and I have a beautiful new Westie sister, Tara. My new family has been very patient with me and I am blending in with their family so well. I am finally home. Thank you WROC from the bottom of my heart. XOXO Boomer
BOOMER'S ORIGINAL STORY: I have traveled a difficult and lonely journey in my short life in search of my forever home. I was dropped off at a high kill shelter by my owner, can you imagine that? Well, I never thought I would be in such a predicament with no one to care or to protect me, while dogs were barking incessantly all night long. I was terrified because I am a shy and gentle soul that didn't deserve this treatment from my own family. I am a darling 6 year old (DOB 12/3/05) boy.
Once I become comfortable and trust in my new surroundings, I am ready to play and be part of the family. I am neutered and current on my shots and microchipped. If you are ready for a sweetheart, I am your guy. Love and kisses, Boomer
Roddie, now Stewart, Adopted November 2011
I am here to tell you that another happy Westie (that's me) has found a wonderful home. Mom & Dad, Joyce and Jeff, took one look at me and that was that. They scooped me up and I have my forever family now. XOXO Stewie
RODDIE'S ORIGINAL STORY: While at the shelter I waited and waited for my family to come after all, I'm not homeless, I have a family. I couldn't imagine that they would want me here in a cage; frightened, alone and whimpering. I waited for 2 long weeks and no one came to claim me. My heart was broken and when things seemed to be at its worse, an angel from WROC came to rescue me. She held me close and whispered in my ear, "you're safe now". I was so relieved that I laid my head on her shoulder, trembling while I whimpered my thanks to her.I am approximately 2-3 years old, neutered, microchipped and current on all my shots. WROC's un-conditional love for me has healed my heart and my soul so I am ready and waiting for my forever family. Love and sloppy kisses...Roddie

TED & ELLIE'S ORIGINAL STORY: Ted and I just arrived atin rescue. Our owner could not keep us any longer so she called WROC because she knew they would take really good care of us.Ted tangled with a coyote several years ago and lost his eye, but he if fine today and can see a squirrel at 20 yards! I hear through the grapevine that my foster Mom would love to keep us both, if she only had enough room. What does that say about us? We are definitely keepers!!Let's face it, it can be a daunting thing to consider adopting Westie siblings. But it has been said that siblings adopted together have fewer behavioral issues and higher self-esteem. That's us for sure! Of course they are less lonely AND there are two of us to love, and two of us to love you right back. XOXO Ted & Ellie

You helped me find a loving home with my new Mom & Dad, Laura and Rafael, and Westie brother Scotty.Scotty and I are becoming friends and we even play sometimes. Mynew parents are working on my lady like behavior (or lack thereof). I like people very much but I'm not crazy about all dogs. I'm very protective and tough for a little girl. I love walks, running in the park, playing in the creek and sleeping in the bed. I am very loving and give kisses all the time. I have turned into Daddy's lil girl (haha Scotty, you big Mama's boy). LOLA'S ORIGINAL STORY: Meet the lovely Lola. She is a happy, spunky, 1-2 years old, 13 pound Westie who loves to give kisses and play fetch. She almost did not make it to her next birthday. NOTE FROM WOLFIE'S MOM: It has been an abosolute joy to meet you and to welcome this special little guy, Wolfie, into our lives! I have shared this story with all our friends and family. All are so touched by his story and the amazing work done by your organzation!
WOLFIE'S ADOPTION: I waited by the door with my heart in my throat. Would they like me? Would I like them? What would my new life be like? Was this family the ONE? All my fears evaporated when I saw Mom & Dad, Beth & Stephen, and Sister, Paige. They were perfect! I ran out, they sat on the ground and made such a fuss over me. I was in heaven. All my dreams have come true. I now have my guardian angels who promise to take care of me forever and my new best friend, Paige. Thank you WROC for this miracle. Sweet happy kisses, Wolfie
A LETTER FROM WOLFIE: Fear, despair and disappointment filled my mind as I lay on my side, caught between the cold hard ground and the middle of the car. My body was numb. The only sensation I had was the car crushing me to the ground. My lungs felt totally compressed and air would neither enter nor exit, at least not without a lot of effort. My mind was spinning. What had just happened? How did I get myself into this jam? Off in the distance, on the treacherous road, I could see cars driving by completely unaware of what had happened or how I was feeling. I tried to yelp but there was no reply. I was seriously hurt, alone and terrified. All I could do was wait for help or wait to die. Thankfully, a good samaritan saw me on the side of the road and took me to a shelter. Then I spent cold, dark and lonely days and nights at the shelter, thinking that no one would care or would come to my aid.
Knowing that I am not a purebred Westie, WROC knew my chances of surviving were slim to nothing and getting the medical help I needed was impossible laying in a shelter. So they rescued me and healed my body, my mind, my soul and my heart. I am a happy, healthy and well adjusted boy now. Won't you be my guardian angel for life and care, protect and love me, please? I need you desperately and I think you will find that you just might need me too. Love...Wolfie

My Mom & Dad spend lots of time with me walking, socializing, and playing. Thank you WROC and special thanks to Barbara for her compassion and love. XOXO Casey
CASEY'S ORIGINAL STORY: Hi, I am Casey, a 3 year old neutered male. My Mom was ill and could no longer take the best care of me. She made the very dificult decision to ask WROC for help. So here I am in a great foster home being pampered and fussed over. I just love all of the attention.
I am a great dog, full of energy and fun. I love my toys and I love to walk and ride in the car. I sleep quietly in my crate at night, but give me a chance and I will be in the big bed in a flash. All of my shots are current and I am ready to go. If you are an active fun family, then I am the Westie for you!! Love, Casey
Jake & Jonas (aka Joey), Adopted July 2011
WROC found us the best home. We went home to Arizona with Mom & Dad, Roxy & Jack. They are the perfect family for us. Much love and many kisses, Jake & Joey
DAD JACK WRITES: "Our two new “Boys” are doing just great and we are blessed to have them. They have adapted quickly to the house, new neighborhood and to us, and are busy exploring everything. They love “trying” to chase the rabbits and go right on alert when the bunnies run. A couple of natural hunters! Both started playing with their toys more last night and of course, the kisses and pets are non-stop when we are on the couch. I will probably end up with carpal tunnel in both hands from the “Pet Me” requests. Thank You again for helping bring these boys into our lives. We love them very much.
JAKE'S ORIGINAL STORY: My name is Jake and my brother Jonas and I lived our entire lives with a wonderful Mom that took very good care of us. She passed away just this month and her estate chose WROC to take care of her most prized possessions, me & Jonas. I am a beautiful and happy 10 year old, neutered, microchipped Westie. We are boys who love to have fun, play and walk. Jonas and I race around the house, in and out the dog door, and all around the yard. We are having a great time here, but we would really like a home of our own. If you are looking for 2 great boys like us, please send in your application. Me & Jonas are waiting. Westie kisses, Jake
JONAS' ORIGINAL STORY: I am a handsome 7 year old neutered male and my brother is Jake. Our Mom passed away and WROC was chosen by her estate to take care of us. PEANUT'S ORIGINAL STORY: When I was placed in my rescuer's arms at the shelter, she kissed me and said that I was beautiful and life will only get better from this day forward. I am estimated at 6 years old. This is the first time I have been given anything and I was ready to roll! WROC's Westie Diet and skin regime already has me feeling better. I am sweet, gentle, small Westie of 12 lbs. That is why they call me McPeanut". This is a great place to be! I get to play, eat, and love while WROC works on my adorable self. I am going to be here a while but when I'm ready for my very own home, look out California, I am going to capture your heart! Love Peanut
DUFFY'S ORIGINAL STORY: I waited at the shelter for my owner, but they never came for me. I am not upset about it at all because my condition was caused from pure neglect, and here I am getting the very best vet care possible, incredible meals including Highlander Hash with salmon, medicated baths and I get to sleep with my favorite stuffed toys. I am a small Westie, 13 lbs and approximately 3 years old. I have an incredibly sweet disposition and I am one happy little guy! Watch for my updates. This may be me now, but it won't be me when I graduate from WROC. Happy & Warm, MacDuff
Jackie, now Jackson, Adopted July 2011
My new family is calling me Jackson and that is just fine with me. I am one happy Westie with Mom & Dad, Amanda & Sang and two human brothers, Jeremy & Colby. They spend lots of time playing with me and walking me and I just love it. Mom is my very special favorite person in the house. She knows all about Westies and really knows how to take care of me. Thank you WROC, I am finally home!! Big Westie Kisses, Jackson
JACKIE'S ORIGINAL STORY: Hi, my name is Jackie and I am a 4-5 year old, 17 pound, microchipped, neutered male. My family lost their house and then they lost me. I wandered for days before being picked up by the animal shelter. It was a relief being off the streets, but jail was not much better. Thank goodness WROC sprung me and I am a free Westie once again! I am a happy sweet boy and I will sit in your lap and give kisses. I am looking for my very own home that will never lose me again. If you are looking for a sweetheart like me, I am looking for you. Sweet Westie Kisses, Jackie
Winne, Adopted July 2011I truly believe that my Angel Gerry sent my new mom to me. I have found my forever home with Laurie and she thinks I am the greatest gift of love. Thank you WROC for finding me this wonderful new life. Love Winnie
WINNIE'S ORIGINAL STORY: Winnie's story is a sad one. She was turned over to rescue by her previous owners of 9 years where she received rehabilitation for her skin disorder. She also endured surgery on her front leg that was turned out 90 degrees from a break that was not fixed 6 years prior. Then she found the Dad of her dreams, Gerry. Gerry loved the "little dog that could" and Winnie had one wonderful, but short year with Gerry. Sadly, Gerry passed away June 24th and Winnie came back home to WROC. Winnie deserves a home of her own where her new person will carry on the love, dedication and compassion that Gerry showered Winnie in. If you have room in your home and your heart for Winnie, please send her your application.

MYLA'S ORIGINAL STORY: Myla is a darling 6 year old spayed female, current on her shots, microchipped and looking for her forever home. Mylas' folks loved her very much but their living circumstances changed. They want the very best for her so they brought her to WROC. Myla loves all dogs and people too, and her best friend was a horse! She loves car rides, and thinks the dog park is heaven on earth. When she runs, she resembles a pogo stick and tries her best to get every dog in the park to chase her. She is very affectionate and a wonderful housemate. She enjoy a good afternoon movie as long as she gets to lie next to her person. Myla is gentle and full of sweet personality. If you are interested in this little diamond, send her your application.
Finley, Adopted June 2011
Today, the party really begins! I am starting my new life with previous WROC adopters Tim and Nancy and Westie Farley! I could not have found a better life, one that is filled with all sorts of adventures; trips, boating, camping, walks, parks but most of all a home to call my own. Thank you WROC for this incredible life and for giving me my best friend, Farley. Love Finley
FINLEY'S ORIGINAL STORY: Finley had hip surgery and is recovering beautifully. Though he is not impressed with the strict confines of late, he will make a full recovery and the dog park will once again be his. Finley is a sweet and gentle boy and nothing gets him down. He listens to commands and is potty trained. Finley does live by the rules "everything that is yours is mine", so remote controls and shoes should not be left around.
My name is Finley and my last thought as I drifted off to sleep in the shelter last night was dreaming of spending the holidays with someone warm to cuddle up too. The dream seemed so far away since its now Christmas Eve and I lost all hope of being rescued. But then, in a blink of an eye, the spirit of Christmas found me. As everyone was getting ready for Santa, my rescue ambassadors dropped everything and pulled together to make my dream come true. They traveled several hundred miles this morning to bring me home to WROC for Christmas.
Jackson, Adoped June 2011
Mark & John shared their home with the lovely Westie Samantha for many years and were just not sure if the time was right to adopt. But as fate would have it, I was ready and their perfect family was just waiting for me. They were apprehensive when they came to meet me, they walked slowly up the walk, and then I ran out to greet them. It was love at first sight, all apprehension gone, and my new family was here. Thank you WROC. We are all so happy! XOXO Jackson
JACKSON'S ORIGINAL STORY: My name is Jackson and I am a very lucky Westie. When the shelter staff called WROC and asked them to come get me, they mobilized their network and even though they had to drive a long way, they picked me up the very next day. I am approx-imately 4 years old, neutered, current on all my shots, and I have sparkly clean teeth. I am a very sweet and smart boy and enjoy long walks and playing with toys. I am patiently waiting for my new family. XOXO Jack
Willow, Adopted June 2011
I spent a lot of time in foster care recovering from a collapsed lung, skin condition and two knee surgeries, but it goes to show that timing is everything. My new family was looking for a special dog and WROC was looking for a special family - one that would make me the center of attention! I am now in my forever home with Mom and Dad Michael & Sherry, and brother & sisters Zach, Katie, Eliza, Sienna & Madison. There are a lot of laps to nap on! Thank you WROC for this incredible family! Hugs & kisses, Willow
WILLOW'S ORIGINAL STORY: I would like to tell you a little bit about me. I recently had puppies and I was of no use anymore so I ended up in a shelter in Northern CA. I am a playful girl and they think I am between 2-3 years old. I am waiting patiently. Love Willow

NOTE FROM MAX & MARLEY'S MOM: Max & Marley have found their "forever" home. They have adopted us! These little guys are not "pets" to us. They are much, much more. They are part of our life. Today the boys "supervised" when I made the first batch of Highlander Hash (to make sure I did it right) and it turned out perfect! There's also No Peek Chicken in the crockpot and the house smells wonderful. They sleep and snore right next to the bed in their matching sheepskin loungers. Thank you for finding them and trusting us with them. They will always get our very best care. Jan

NOTE FROM FARLEY'S MOM: Farley gets LOTS of playtime with the grandpuppies and his buddy, Scrapple. So much fun to watch him play. He is like a one-year-old. We love this dog. He travels really well and is getting attached to Tim as well...I think I am still the favorite but the scales are getting pretty even. We had a great first road trip to Los Gatos. He went to all the outdoor eateries with us. Thanks again for giving us this wonderful critter. Nancy & Tim
TROY'S ORIGINAL STORY: My name is Troy and I am a 4-5 year old, 18 pound Westie. My previous owners left me on my own to live outside in the backyard. Finally, thank goodness, they gave me away to a good samaritan. He immediately took me to the groomer because I was really dirty and severely matted. Once I was clean and fed, he called WROC because he knew WROC finds us Westies really good homes. I have all my shots and am micro-chipped. They never came and I lost all hope. I was lonely and scared but what I did not know was that WROC was keeping a close eye on me. INDY'S ORIGINAL STORY: My name is Indy and I am a 3 year old, 20 lb female that is looking for my forever home. I am spayed, microchipped, current on my shots and have newly cleaned teeth!! I am a very playful girl and I get along great with dogs and people. I am very active, and I love to run and chase balls and they have learned that I am quite a good jumper, so I need a fully fenced yard to romp around in. If you think I am the girl for you, send in your application soon! Love Indy
